Continuing Medical Education
Welcome to the Virtual Medical Centre's Continuing Medical Education service for General Practitioners.
The VMC Review Program provides you with the opportunity to undertake research in a medical field of interest as an RACGP approved Learning Activity or an ACRRM PDP activity.
Accreditation
The Review Program is accredited by:
- The RACGP as a Category 1 Learning Activity (40 points) for the QA & CPD.
- ACRRM for 12.75 points for the PDP.
The CME program provides you with the opportunity to update your knowledge and skills in the treatment and care of your patients in the following areas:

Learning Objectives
On completion of this learning activity GPs will:- Be practiced in communicating medical information to patients and the public; (skill)
- Be familiar with current research in the chosen field of study; (knowledge)
- Be supportive of patients participating in clinical trials; (attitude)
- Implement best practice procedures for patient care; (behaviour)
- Implement a systems-based strategy addressing patient safety. (behaviour)
As an accredited Continuing Medical Education program you will undertake:
- A literature search on your selected topic through the RACGP library or other online databases;
- A review of ongoing relevant clinical trials;
- An audit on patients you have treated;
- To prepare a hypothetical case study; and
- Review the VMC content for patients on your chosen topic.
A physician specialising in your chosen field will facilitate your studies.
You are able to work through the program at your own rate.
Your final report will be reviewed by your Facilitator.
